Bay Bridge Care Center is an oncology clinic in Easton, Maryland focusing on the treatment of cancer.  Easton is a community oriented town with a deep connection with the water - the rivers that surround the town feed into the Chesapeake Bay which provides life to people, animals, and plants.  The natural bridge between the community and the water has inspired our design for Bay Bridge Care Center. Pulling inspiration from the site and the community, the concept behind this facility is inspired by luxury boat design. Four pillars define the space and are used to execute this unique design concept: experience, sanctuary, journey and life.  These pillars can be felt throughout the patient’s journey.  The warm welcome upon the entry and reception areas create a unique experience for the patients that invites them into the space and attracts their attention. The serene hues and tones within the treatment and staff areas complement the view of the Tred Avon River and the surrounding greenscape creating a sanctuary for patients and staff. The circulation is intended to support efficiency, using wayfinding to create clear pathways that signify a journey in recovery.  Art is used throughout to symbolize the concept of life, bringing light and hope into the space to uplift the patients during their treatment.
